About the Xbox Series S (512GB)
The Xbox Series S is the compact, all-digital half of Microsoft's current console pair. It shares the Series X's processor architecture and fast SSD, but it has less graphics power, targets 1440p and has no disc drive. This white 512GB version has been on sale since November 2020, and a 1TB Carbon Black model came later.
Plenty of people buy the Series S as a second console or as a Game Pass box for a kid's room, so demand stays steady. Because it starts out inexpensive, the dollar savings on a used one are smaller than on bigger consoles. Microsoft's 2025 price increases made used units more appealing, and many eBay listings include just the console, a controller and cables.
Where the savings are
The 512GB drive leaves only about 364GB for games, so factor in an expansion card if you play big titles. That makes used listings that include a Seagate or WD storage card worth a look. Check whether a listing is the 512GB white model or the 1TB black one, since they sell at different prices. Controller wear varies a lot between listings, so look closely at the photos.
