The new Joy-Con 2 attach magnetically and can work as a mouse in supported games. It plays most original Switch titles too.

Demand was intense at launch, and resellers briefly charged well above list price. That has calmed down, and the Switch 2 now behaves like most young consoles: used prices usually sit only a little below new, and bundles with Mario Kart World show up on both Amazon and eBay. Many used units are close to new, so warranty and accessories matter more than age.

Where the savings are

On a console this new, the savings on a used unit are small, and a new one from Amazon comes with full warranty coverage. A used or open-box Switch 2 is worth it mainly when the listing adds a game or accessories. If a bundle is advertised, ask whether the download code was already redeemed. Old microSD cards will not hold Switch 2 games, which need microSD Express.
